On Thursday, March 28, East Wilkes Middle School hosted a Donkey Basketball Game. It was one of the most entertaining nights we've had in a while. Sponsored by the East Wilkes Middle Athletic Booster Club, the Donkey Basketball Game brought in over 800 people. Folks came from all around to watch the show. Chris Jones, Principal at Ronda- Clingman Elementary; Bradley Hayes, Justin Call, Keith Lyon, and Billy Brown from East Wilkes High School; Jay Duncan from Roaring River Elementary, Keith Elmore, County Commissioner; and Charlie Sealey, Charles Norman, Kathleen Roberts, Patricia Mathews, Janet St. John, Travis Walker, Chuck Hudson, Sheila Holloway, and Ben Kallam from East Wilkes Middle. The basketball teams had cheerleaders too. Rue Thomas, Kari Reeves, Jodi Weatherman, Julia Patterson and Shelly Logan rooted the team on with lots of "donkey" cheers.
The booster club profited over $2000. This money will be used to enhance the athletic department through uniforms, banners, equipment and facilities at East Wilkes Middle School. Jim Logan, Athletic Booster Club President, did a wonderful job organizing this event. Thanks to all the parents and teachers active in our booster club. East Wilkes Middle would also like to thank all of those in the community who support our efforts to provide valuable extra curricular activities for our students.
