Mr. Eugene Childress, 58, of US Hwy. 21, State Road, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. He was born July 14, 1949 in Yadkin County to the late Alonzo and Zola Blevins Childress. Mr. Childress worked with Carl Rose and Son Paving, and was a loving, devoted father, grandfather, brother, and family man. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife: Sharon Kay "Sherry" Childress, and by his second wife: Wilma Baity Childress and a step-daughter, Donna Baity.

Surviving are his sons: Dennis Eugene Childress, Randy Lee Childress, both of State Road; step-son Barry Baity; grandchildren: D.J. Childress, Abigail Lee Childress, brothers and sisters: Curtis Franklin (Peggy) Childress, of Boonville; Rosa Lee C. (Paul) Royal, of Jonesville; Louise C. (the late J.T.) Willard, of Ronda, Kenneth (Debbie) Childress, of Kernersville, Margaret (Ricky) Cranfill, of Boonville and several loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 3, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the White Oak Cemetery of Thurmond with Rev. Bobby Prevette officiating
