The town of Elkin will hold sign-ups for its Kinder T-Ball, regular T-Ball, coach-pitch baseball and Babe Ruth baseball programs from March 1-28 at the Elkin Recreation Center.

Here are details:

Kinder T-Ball: This program will start during the end of April and continue until mid-May. It is open to ages 4-5 (age as of April 30, 2008).

The cost is $15 for residents and $20 for non-residents.

T-ball: Practice will start around the beginning of May and games will start at the end of May, ending in June. This league is open to ages 5-6 (age as of April 30, 2008).

The cost is $20 for residents and $40 for non-residents.

Coach-Pitch Baseball: Practice will start around the end of April. Games will begin around the middle of May and continue through June. The league is open to ages 7-8 (age as of April 30, 2008).

The cost is $20 for residents and $40 for non-residents.

Babe Ruth Baseball : Practice will begin around the middle of April. Games will begin in May. The program is open to ages 13-15 (age as of April 30, 2008).

Players must reside in Elkin, State Road or Wilkes County to participate. The cost is $75 for residents and $100 for non-residents.


One day softball camp Saturday at Starmount

Starmount softball coach Heather Courts will hold her annual camp on Saturday, March 1 at the high school field. It's open to ages 6-14.

The clinic will run from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The cost is $25, which includes lunch. Participants can pre-register or register the day of the camp.

East Wilkes boosters meet Monday

The East Wilkes High School Athletic Booster Club will meet Monday, March 3rd at 6:30 p.m. in the Media Center. Everyone is invited to attend.


Elkin tennis league sign-ups

The Elkin Recreation and Parks Department is now taking registration for spring tennis leagues.

The ladder style leagues to be offered are men's and women's singles and men's, women's and co-ed doubles. All ages and skill levels are welcome and there is no charge for the leagues.
