The driver of an 18-wheeler is assisted from the cab of his truck Wednesday. His rig broke through the cable barrier in the median of I-77 near N.C. 67. Shortly after 2 p.m. Passersby said the northbound truck ran through the cable barrier and ended up on an embankment next to the Jonesville Comfort Inn. The cable, which was stuck to the under carriage of the truck, remained stretched across the southbound lane of I-77 for about half an hour. Jonesville Police Chief Roger Reece said his officers helped slow the south-bound traffic to prevent another wreck that might result from the cable. They called in West Yadkin Fire Department, which brought a saw to cut through the half-inch thick cable. The driver's name was not available.
