A Highway patrolman was still investigating the 2:15 p.m. crash and said he would have details later in the day.
Passersby said the northbound truck ran through the cable barrier and ended up on an embankment next to the Jonesville Comfort Inn.
The cable, which was stuck to the under carriage of the truck, remained stretched across the southbound lane close to half an hour.
Jonesville Police Chief said his officers helped slow the south-bound traffic to prevent another wreck. They called in West Yadkin Fire Department, which brought a saw to cut through the half-inch thick cable.
Emergency workers helped the driver, whose name was not released this afternoon, down from the cab of the truck and to a waiting stretcher and ambulance.
