. Adrian Gardner said that he was driving from his home in Hamptonville to the Elkin Wal-Mart along U.S. 21 Bypass when he heard a popping sound. He looked toward the hood of the vehicle and noticed the paint beginning to blister as smoke started pouring into the cab. He pulled to the side of the road near C.C. Camp Road and the vehicle burned. At right, he looks through the singed Bible salvaged from the wreckage.
