DOBSON - The trial of a Westfield man accused of committing sex acts on two teenage girls that allegedly began when the children were just 6-years-old has been continued to next month.

Isaac Lee Smathers, formerly of 169 Slate Mountain Road, was arrested Sept. 11 by detectives with the Surry County Sheriff's Office. Smathers, who remains in the Surry County Jail with a secured bond set at $500,000, was scheduled to appear last week in Surry County District Criminal Court. His next court appearance is set for Jan. 8.

Smathers faces multiple felony charges in connection with the alleged sex acts that involved two young girls. According to court documents, Smathers allegedly forced the victims to perform sex acts on him. He also allegedly photographed and videotaped naked images of the children.
