Amber Bryant, a freshman, scored 10 goals -- fourth best on the team -- and had two assists, helping the Spirits finish 15-1-2.
SANBORN PLAYS BIG: Elkin's Tyler Sanborn posted career highs in points (14) and rebounds (13) in his first collegiate start, leading Guilford past Villa Julie College 87-52 on Saturday night.
The 6-foot-10 sophomore center made 7 of 11 shots from the field. He also had one block and three assists. Five of his rebounds came on offense.
KNIGHTS FALL: Marcus Brown scored 21 points and Ferdie Morales tossed in 16 points in Surry Community College's 115-96 men's basketball loss to host Pfeiffer College on Monday.
Also in double figures for SCC (1-6) were Jamel Hicks with 12 points, and Derien Chatman and Tim Lee each with 10. The Knights trailed by just 2 points at the half, 47-45.
"We were down 14 points in the second half, but we came back and took the lead," said Surry Community coach Eddie Wilmoth said. "They had a streak where a kid hit five three-pointers in the second half. We had a letdown on defense. We're still learning, but we had a decent game."
