Elkin Recreation & Parks will be registering for a Youth Wrestling Program until Nov. 21.
This program is for girls and boys ages 5-13 (not in the ninth grade). Travel to competitions will be involved. The registration fee is $15 for town residents and $30 for non-residents. Registration forms are available at Elkin Recreation Center. Registration deadline is Nov. 21.

East Wilkes vs. North Wilkes alumni football
Former football players from East Wilkes and North Wilkes are organizing the third annual Alumni Football game fund-raiser between the two schools.
The contest will be Saturday, Dec 15 at East Wilkes High. Kickoff will be at 2 p.m. with the gates opening for spectators at 12:30 p.m.
To be eligible to participate, alumni must have played at least one year of football for either school. Also, they must have been out of school for at least 10 years (the Class of 1997 or older).

Forbush-Starmount alumni football
The second-annual Forbush-Starmount alumni football game will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 4 p.m.

Starmount will host this year's contest. The Rams won last year's battle in front of a packed stadium at Forbush. Players must have been out of school for at least 10 years to suit up for the alumni squad.
Thunder Cats fastpitch softball The Carolina Thunder Cats girls fastpitch softball organization is looking for players for its 12-under and 14-under teams for the 2008 season.

Elkin baseball player competing in Christmas camp, tourney
Elkin senior Brian Carter will attend a showcase baseball tournament and camp during his Christmas break.
The all-conference slugger was selected to the Baseball Factory National Team, which will compete in the Dodgertown Christmas Camp and Tournament in Dodgertown, Fla. Thousands of players from around the country sought spots on the team. The team will be coached by professional players and pro scouts.
In addition to playing a leading role on the Elks playoff baseball team in the spring, Carter also helped the Elkin Royals to a N.C. state championship over the summer and played for the Wilmington Hurricanes traveling team.
