Charlie Sam Casey, 78, of 2486 Traphill Union Road, Traphill, passed away Friday, Oct. 12, 2007, at his residence. Sam was born in Wilkes County on March 13, 1929, to the late Charlie Walter Casey and Mary Belle Cheatwood Casey. He was a member of Union Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Iva Dean Casey; sisters, Kathleen Casey, Stella Sparks and Connie Pipes and one brother, Ira Casey.

He is survived by two sons, Stephen (Teresa D.) Casey of Hayes and Tony (Debbie) Casey of Traphill; a sister, Ruby Baker of Elkin; two brothers, Billy (Mildred) Casey and Carl (Betty Jo) Casey, both of Traphill and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at 3 p.m. at Union Baptist Church by the Rev. Rick Johnson. Mr. Casey's visitation was held from 2-3 p.m., prior to funeral services at the church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice.

Johnson Funeral Home of Elkin is serving the Casey family.
