BOONVILLE — Starmount graduate Sawyer Davis recently signed his letter of intent to play baseball at Surry Community College.
Despite the team coming up short in the state tournament, the second baseman improved his batting average every year on the varsity squad, capping it off with .443 average last spring.
Over his career, he was also a power threat at the plate, hitting five home runs in his senior year, seven overall. Davis struggled a little bit defensively this year, with seven errors committed compared to zero the season before.
He’ll look to improve on that when he joins the team in the fall.
