HAYS — Elkin dropped its Tuesday night game on the road against North Wilkes 39-25. With the loss, the team is now 1-19, and 0-11 in MVAC play.

The team’s next contest is also on the road against Ashe County (9-12, 7-4 MVAC) Friday night.

The Elkin girls hung on for a 35-34 win Tuesday night to move into sole possession of first place in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference. The game almost followed the same storyline as the previous matchup with the teams flipped. Back then, Elkin came back to win as senior Miracle Walters scored her 1,000th point in dramatic fashion. Elkin led by six at halftime and managed to hold off the charging Lady Vikings for their 19th win of the season.

Now 19-1 overall and 10-1 in the MVAC, the team’s next contest is against Ashe County (11-10, 4-7 MVAC) Friday night.
