Following another round of racing at Friendship Motor Speedway on Labor Day Weekend, the speedway is set to have Fan Appreciation Night this Saturday.
All seven divisions are set to hit the track, but the Friendship staff are making this about the fans. Games and prizes from 1 to 5 p.m., plus a meet and greet with racers during intermission are just some of the many events going on all Saturday.
With only four points paying races to go, it’s sure to be an exciting night as those looking for the championship trophy will be fighting hard against some non-regulars. Elkin’s George Anen Jr. will be looking to start another streak of wins in the Renegade series after his nine-race winning streak was snapped last weekend by Jody Miller. Keeping his streak alive with his fifth-straight was Larry Martin in the Xtreme Stock 4 series.
Friendship Motor Speedway also is doing a silent auction for various items to benefit Rocky Lyons, who is battling cancer. Among some of the many things to be auctioned off are parts of cars, Carolina Panthers gear, as well as the chance for five lucky people to ride a two-seater around the track with either Chase McCormick, Landon Mitchell, Chris Cheek, Jeff Parsons, or Ryan Atkins. Bids for the rides need to be private messaged to the Friendship Facebook page or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org with choice of driver. Bids must be in by Saturday no later than 5 p.m. Anyone who wishes to donate items to benefit Lyons can contact Darlene Brown or privately message the Friendship Motor Speedway Facebook page.
All results from last Saturday’s racing, as well as additional information for Fan Appreciation Day can be found on Friendship Motor Speedway’s Facebook Page.
