Local softball team looking for competition
JONESVILLE — True Surviviors softball team is looking for several different softball teams which are willing to compete non-competitively for the fun of the game. The team is looking for more than one team that can play on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Saturdays in the Jonesville area. Participants can be men and women, but they must be ages 18 and older. Youth coaches clinic scheduled

Boys basketball camp slated for East Wilkes
RONDA — East Wilkes High School will be holding a basketball camp for rising second- through eighth-grade boys. The camp will run from July 25 to July 27 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Starmount football camp
BOONVILLE — Starmount football will be hosting its annual K-6 football camp on July 25-26 from 6 to 8 p.m. on the practice field — park in front of the school. Three Upward camps slated
COURTNEY — Deep Creek Baptist Church will be sponsoring three days of various sports camps at Courtney Elementary on July 12, 19, and 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. On July 12, basketball took place, July 19 soccer will be held, and July 26 softball will be conducted. Daily tennis camp at East Wilkes
RONDA — Coach Aaron Simmons, along with current and former East Wilkes players, will be holding tennis clinics for rising kindergarten through high school students beginning June 21 and continuing through July 28. Clinics for rising kindergarten students through rising third-graders will be from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Clinics for rising fourth-graders through rising eighth-graders will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Finally, clinics for rising ninth-graders through rising 12th-graders will be from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The cost of each clinic is $5 and no advanced registration is needed. Elkin cheer camp to be held
ELKIN — Elkin High School senior Rebecca Reece will be conducting a cheerleading camp for rising second- through eighth-graders as part of her senior project at Elkin High School. The camp will be held Aug. 6 at the Elkin Elementary gym. The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration and check-in will be start at 8:15 a.m. At noon, the campers will show off the skills they learned to their family and friends. Cheer Extreme staff and EHS cheerleaders will be assisting with the camp. The cost of the camp is $15 for advanced registered campers, and $20 the day of the camp.
