Sports physical day scheduled
JONESVILLE — Starmount Athletics in partnership with Jonesville Family Medical Center will be having its sports physical day at the Medical Center in Jonesville on June 16 at 8 a.m. All Starmount High and Middle school athletes are encouraged to pick up a physical form at their respective schools, have their parents complete the form, and bring it with them on the day of physicals. The cost will be $10. For questions, contact Coach Johnson at the high school or Coach Pardue at the middle school.
Starmount Softball camp
BOONVILLE — Starmount softball coach, Sarah Boles, will be hosting a softball camp for rising second- through ninth-graders on June 13 and 14 from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost of the camp is $50. Registration forms can be found online at www.yadkin.k12.nc.us/webpages/sboles then click on Starmount Softball. Registration form must be completed and signed for the athlete to participate. Athletes may pay and register the first day of camp.
Lady Cards hosting basketball camp
RONDA — The East Wilkes Lady Cardinals are holding a basketball camp June 13-15. Girls ranging from third grade to ninth grade are eligible to attend. The camp will take place in the East Wilkes High School gym. The purpose of the camp is to improve basketball skills in a fun environment. Those attending should bring basketball shoes, gym shorts, T-shirts and a great attitude, according to organizers. The camp will be held daily from 9 a.m. to noon, and cost is $45. 2016 Blue Ridge Basketball School
DOBSON — East Wilkes head basketball coach, Brad Davis, will be hosting a basketball camp at Surry Community College June 13-6. The camp will be for boys and girls, rising third through ninth grades. The camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost of the camp is $100. More information can be found at blueridgebasketball.com.
Youth soccer camp at Forbush High School
EAST BEND — Forbush High school’s soccer program will be hosting a summer skills soccer camp on June 20-23. The camp is available for youth soccer player ranging in age from 7 through 13 years. Forbush Coach Seth Davis, and Guilford College starting defender Robert Cornelius will be the instructors for the camp. Cost for the camp is $50. Each player will receive a soccer ball and a T-shirt. East Wilkes tennis camp
RONDA — Senior tennis player Brie Jarvis will be conducting a tennis camp for rising fourth-through ninth-graders as part of her senior project at East Wilkes. The camp will run June 24 and 25 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the East Wilkes High School tennis court. Cost of the camp is $6 for one day or $10 for two days. Basketball skills clinic scheduled
BOONVILLE — The Yadkin Valley Basketball Academy and Starmount Basketball will host an Ultimate Skills Clinic on June 27 and 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for rising fourth- through 12th-graders. The cost of the camp is $55. Campers who register and pay by May 27 will receive a free basketball. Yadkin Valley Basketball Academy (YVBA) was created to give players the tools they need to become better basketball players. Using the skills and drills from today’s ELITE high school, NCAA and NBA players. YVBA also offers 1-on-1 and Small Group training sessions with gym locations in Surry and Yadkin counties. Tennis camp at East Wilkes
RONDA — Coach Aaron Simmons, along with current and former East Wilkes players, will be holding tennis clinics for rising kindergarten through high school students beginning June 21 and continuing through July 28. Clinics for rising kindergarten students through rising third-graders will be from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Clinics for rising fourth-graders through rising eighth-graders will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Finally, clinics for rising ninth-graders through rising 12th-graders will be from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The cost of each clinic is $5 and no advanced registration is needed.
