Elkin City Schools met 100 percent of the Annual Measurable Objectives in 2011-12, meeting 37 of 37 targets.
This information was recently released by the N.C. Department of Public Instruction’s School Report Cards for 2011-2012.
“Elkin City School System has many caring educators and an education staff who work very hard to provide various teaching methods and learning opportunities for every child. Our test scores and data comparisons reflect our focus on ‘excellence’ in academic achievement for every child,” said ECS Superintendent Randy Bledsoe.
The School Report Cards offer up-to-date information about student achievement and attendance, class size, school safety, teacher quality, school technology and other topics for the schools in Elkin City Schools as well as all other school districts across the state.

Highlights from Elkin City Schools Report Card include:
Elkin Elementary School’s overall math average was 90.9 percent, meaning 91 percent of the students in grades 3-6 performed at grade level in mathematics in the 2011-12 school year.
Elkin Middle School received the Honors School of Excellence, meaning 90 to 100 percent of students performed at grade level in the 2011-12 school year and also met High Growth. This recognition is the highest recognition a school can achieve.
Elkin High School had a Graduation Rate of 89.4, ranking in the top ten in the state for the third consecutive year.
