Incident: Simple Physical Assault

When: June 29, 6:12 p.m.

Where: Wal-Mart, Elkin

Details: Officers arrived at Wal-Mart after an assault had already occurred. The complainant told the officer that they were at work when a woman approached them and said they needed to talk with them. The complainant told the woman she would meet her in the parking lot at her vehicle, according to the report. When the complainant and the woman met, they began arguing about the employee’s boyfriend. The complainant said they were only arguing until a second woman arrived. The first woman struck the complainant in the nose. The complainant then grabbed the first woman and held her against the vehicle. The second woman grabbed the complainant and they begin to struggle until the first woman separated them, got in her car and left, according to the report. The complainant had several lacerations on her nose and neck. Officers advised the complainant to take warrants out for the two women.

Charge: Larceny by employee

When: June 29, 2:58 p.m.

Where: Wal-Mart, Elkin

Stolen: dog food, Busch Ice beer, pads, yardstick, sheeting, 40 foot cord, light bulbs, analog clock, tent pegs

Details: An employee, Mary Lockhart, 55, of State Road walked out of Wal-Mart with a shopping cart full of merchandise without paying, according to an Elkin Police report. Lockhart admitted to taking the items and that it was a stupid mistake. Lockhart was placed under arrested and transported to the Elkin Police Department where she was photographed and finger printed, according to the report. She was released on written promise. Case closed.

Incident: Embezzlement

When: June 29, 8:47 a.m.

Where: Bark Mobile, North Bridge St.

Details: Officer received a call from the owner of Bark Mobile saying an employee had been given permission in the past to borrow money from the store, according to Elkin Police Reports. The employee would borrow the money and it would be taken out of her paycheck. The owner then noticed $240 missing from a June 18 deposit and $300 from June 24 deposit, according to the report. The owner said the employee was also posting payments for family member’s cell phone accounts without taking money, according to the report. Case under further investigation.

Charge: DWI-Alcohol and/or drugs, equipment/paraphernalia-possessing/concealing

When: June 29, 2012, at 3:08 p.m.

Where: 200 block of West Highland Ave., Elkin

Details: Police were dispatched about a blue Acura traveling south on Elk Spur Street, according to an Elkin Police report. When police located and approached the vehicle, they could see the suspect, Michael Ryan Sizemore, 24 of Elkin, using a syringe to inject something into his right arm, and then saw him put it in the back seat, according to the report. Sizemore didn’t respond when officers asked what he had put in the backseat. Officers saw that his motor skills were slow and pupils were pin pointed, according to the report. When he was taken from the vehicle, officers found three other syringes, two teaspoons and a kitchen knife under the passenger seat, according to the report. Sizemore was placed under arrest and transported to the Elkin Police Department for processing, where he agreed to a blood test. Police did a magistrate warrant on the drug paraphernalia and transported Sizemore to Dobson and placed under a $1,500 cash bond for drug paraphernalia and a written promise for driving while impaired. He faces an Aug. 16, 2012, trial date. Case closed.

Charge: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Intoxicated and Disruptive

When: July 1, 2012 at 4:58 a.m.

Where: West Main St, Elkin

Details: Officers found Joshua Schill, 34, of Wilkesboro lying in the Wells Fargo parking lot intoxicated, according to an Elkin Police report. Schill allowed the officers to retrieve his identification and had difficulty answering questions, according to the report. Schill agreed for officers to search him, and officers found a smoking device. Schill said he “did not have any more marijuana on him, that he smoked it all,” according to the report. Officers found an empty plastic bag and the pipe smelled of marijuana. Schill also agreed to a alcohol censor test and registered .21 on the test, according to the report. Officers issued Schill a citation and found him a ride home. Case closed by arrest.

Charge: Possession of Schedule VI drugs, paraphernalia-possessing/concealing

When: July 3, 2012, 1 a.m.

Where: 200 block of North Bridge St, Elkin

Details: While performing a license check, police officers stopped a vehicle going 60 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to an Elkin Police report. When officers approached the vehicle, they smelled a strong odor of alcohol and noticed the right front passenger, Billy Farmer, had an open case of of beer between his legs and a beer in his hand, according to the report. The officer asked Farmer, 46 of Roaring River, to step out of the vehicle and searched Farmer. The officer found a small bag of possible marijuana, rolling papers as well as a three inch straw with white residue on the dash and an open bottle of whiskey under the passenger’s seat, according to the report. Both the driver and a passenger also admitted to smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol earlier that day. Case closed.
