Goody’s returns to North Bridge Street
by Jessica Pickens
Staff Writer

Over 100 shoppers showed up to Goody’s grand opening Thursday morning.

“I am so pleased and excited,” said Mayor Lestine Hutchens before the ribbon cutting. “This is going to be a great year for Elkin and Goody’s is a major part of it.”

Tote bags and coupons were handed out and the store had several items on sale.

District manager Don Stanley said he thinks the store has the best staff and set up crew he has ever seen.

“Sales have been really good on our first day. We still had alot of traffic in the store around 2 p.m.,” said store manager Carolyn Martin. “It’s been a remarkable day.”

The Elkin Goody’s is one of 250 Goody’s stores reopening in the United States after the clothing chain closed down due to bankruptcy in 2008.

Goody’s is located on 1617 N. Bridge St. For more information about the store call 336-835-0037.
