A tractor trailer traveling West on North Bridge Street snagged power and telephone lines while taking a left turn into Conley Carpets’ parking lot in Jonesville.
“Apparently the driver didn’t anticipate the lines being as low as they were,” said Zachary Wolf, Jonesville Police Department officer. “The trailer of his truck caught the lines and pulled them with him, and that ended up snapping the telephone pole in half.”
The driver, Jerry Snavely, with J.J. Haines and Co., Inc., was delivering to Conley Carpets. “I’ve never had anything like this happen,” he said.
Traffic was detoured around the area of the incident, from Elm Street to Starmount Crossing Shopping Center, until the area was safe for traffic.
“Having these wires down could potentially be very dangerous,” a Jonesville Police Department officer explained.
