Old Roaring River Baptist Church located on the Longbottom Road, Traphill, NC, will have Revival Service Monday, July 23rd through Thursday, July 26th.

Pastor Scott Caudill, the pastor of Canaan Baptist Church, Covington Ga., will be the guest speaker. Scott is a graduate of North Wilkes High School. Service will begin nightly at 7:30 pm. Pastor Jim Rhoades and the congregation invite everyone to worship with them.

Jerry Sidden will be bringing a message about the work of the Gideons at Garden Creek Baptist Church on July 29 at 9 AM. Campers in the park are invited to come as they are to worship in this historic church.

The ladies at Traphill Baptist Church are having Christmas in July on Saturday, July 28 from 7 AM till noon. They will serve a big country breakfast and have handmade Christmas ornaments, crocheted items, yard sale items and home canned & baked goods.

There will be fundraiser for Marshall Baker who needs a kidney transplant at Traphill Elementary School on Saturday, Aug 4 beginning at 3 PM. There will be a car and motorcycle show, activities for kids, and good music. Daryl Wagoner & family will be singing at 3 PM. Al Wood & family bluegrass music at 4 PM, and Backwater Classic Country at 5 PM. All donations accepted.

There will be a fundraiser for Chance Cleary at East High School on Saturday, Aug 4. BBQ chicken will be served at 5 PM at $10 a plate. There will be Bingo at 6 PM and a live auction at 7 PM. Chance was injured in Afghanistan while serving in the military.

The Captain Samuel Johnson family reunion will be Sunday, Aug 5 at 1 PM at the Little Stone Mtn Baptist Church fellowship hall (the old Joynes School). All of the Johnson family is invited to bring a covered dish and enjoy an afternoon of catching with family news.

New books available at the Traphill Branch Library include “Afraid to Die” by Lisa Jackson, “Long Shot” by Mike Lupica, “Roadside Assistance” by Amy Clipston, “Under the Mesquite” by Guadalupe Garcia McCall, “The Cottage at Glass Beach” by Heather Barbiere, “Utterly Me, Clarise Bean” by Lauren Child, “Homespun Holiday” by Kelly Ann Riley, “Cleopatra” by Stacy Schiff, and “Saraswate’s Way” by Monika Schroder.

New DVDs ready to check include “Scooby-Doo Meets Batman”, “Abby in Wonderland”, “I AM Sam”, “Ed Wood”, “Intolerable Cruelty”, “It’s a Meaningful life”, “An Easter Carol”, “Madame Blueberry”, “Dolphin Tale”, “Scooby-Doo and the Reluctant Werewolf”, “Hoodwinked”, “Hoodwinked Too Hood vs evil”, “Cars 2”, and “Treasure Buddies”.

Get well wishes go to Tink Billings and Brandy Edwards who have been in the hospital recently.

Traphill had a low temperature of 68.3 degrees on July 20 and a high temperature of 90.8 degrees on July 18. There was 2.5 inches of rain during the week of July 16—22.
