CenturyLink, Inc. has designated the week of May 20 as “Technician Appreciation Week” to thank its more than 11,000 installation, maintenance and repair technicians nationwide.

“CenturyLink’s technicians are committed to maintaining our high standards of customer satisfaction, and it shows in the work they do every day to provide quality service to our customers across the country. They work tirelessly, in all sorts of weather and all hours of the night, to keep our customers connected to the people and information that are important to them,” said Karen Puckett, executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Puckett added, “Our dedicated technicians are an important part of the public face of our company, and sometimes they are the first and only face that customers see. We appreciate them each and every day of the year; however, we have set aside this week to ensure they know just how much we value their hard work, sacrifice and dedication to our company and our customers.”

Events for the week include celebrations at the technician work centers and an all-employee effort to send thank-you notes to technicians.

There are more than 260 technicians in the western North Carolina and Tennessee area.

This past year, technicians worked in snow storms, cleaned up after tornadoes and thunderstorms, and in heat and cold to install and maintain customer services.

But, you also find technicians volunteering their time provisioning high-speed Internet for large community events such as Blue Plum Festival, Rhythm & Roots, and Fun Fest in east TN, and MerleFest and the Greater Hickory Classic in western N.C.; serving as volunteer firemen or bagging food for backpack programs to feed children; working with children as sports coaches in community little league programs, or Special Olympics.

“CenturyLink has a dedicated employee base with a customer-focused culture, and our technicians do an excellent job upholding our company’s commitment to our customers,” said Lottie Ryans, CenturyLink’s vice president and general manager for western NC/TN. “We’re excited to keep this annual tradition of dedicating a week to recognize our hard-working techs, and I want to personally thank all of them for the work they do every day to serve our customers.”
