Elkin resident Eric Lusk, 41, of Elkin, was arrested Thursday, May 24, and charged with one count of third degree sexual exploitation of a minor (possession of child pornography), according Chief Monroe Wagoner in an Elkin Police Department release.
The charge stemmed from evidence seized from Lusk’s home on May 22 during the execution of a search warrant.
“It was discovered by the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force,” said Elkin detective Mindy Peles. “The pornography was digital and downloaded from the Internet.”
Lusk was placed under a $10,000 secured bond and was transported to the Surry County Jail. He was released on bail at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 25. Lusk will face a trial date of August 14.
The Elkin Police Department, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and other assisting members of the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force are investigating. Elkin PD has been a member agency of the ICAC TF since 2010.
The case is still under investigation, said Wagoner.
