Rebecca Billings is bringing a boutique to downtown Elkin.
New business String of Pearls will feature new and slightly used discount designer shoes, clothing and pocketbooks.
“I don’t feel like there is anything like this with the same quality and lower prices,” Billings said. “It’s not a thrift store or a consignment shop; it will be more like a boutique but a whole lot less expensive.”
Billings, originally from Alleghany and now living in Wilkesboro, previously owned gift shops in Roaring Gap and West Jefferson.
“I decided to open a business in downtown Elkin, because the area has a lot of charm,” she said. “I like the downtown and feel like this type of shop is needed.”
Brands included in String of Pearls may include White House Black Market or Cache, Billings said.
“The shop will have a fun, modern atmosphere,” she said.
String of Pearls will be located at 122 West Main St. The store will be opening this summer in the former Yadkin Valley Craft Guild.
