Police investigating two attempted armed robberies in Ekin
by Darcie Dyer
Staff Writer

The Elkin Police Department is investigating two incidents of attempted armed robbery, both of which occurred the evening of Nov. 6 in Elkin.

The first incident was reported to the Elkin Police Department on Nov. 6 at approximately 7:13 p.m. Employees from Rite Aid, 1475 North Bridge St., called police and stated that a male had approached the drive-through window, displayed a weapon, and demanded narcotics, according to Elkin Police Chief Monroe Wagoner.

“The employee walked away and called the police and locked the doors, and the man left,” Wagoner said.

The second incident of armed robbery occurred the same evening at approximately 7:30 at the Dollar General at 544 CC Camp Road. According to the report, two employees were in the store when a male approached the register and demanded money from the store’s safe. While demanding the money, the report states that he gestured that he had a weapon. The employee at the register then notified the other employee and a customer, and the three ran out of the store.

The suspect is described as a white male between the ages of 20 and 30 with sandy brown or sandy blond hair and slim in build. In both incidents, the suspect left in a red vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lt. Kim Robison at 794-6473 or 794-6475.

Reach Darcie Dyer at 835-1513 or ddyer@heartlandpublications.com.
