ELKIN - Yadkin Valley teams return to the field tonight in Week 2 of the high school football season.

Coming off last Friday’s thrilling 24-19 win over East Montgomery, the Buckin’ Elks look to surpass last season’s win total with a matchup against North Surry in a non-conference tilt.

The Greyhounds, who topped Forbush last week 20-14, will look to repeat last season’s 61-10 performance over Elkin in this year’s matchup.

Starmount returns to action against East Surry in Pilot Mountain following last Friday’s season-opening win over Mount Airy.

The Rams beat the Cards 30-17 in last year’s Week 2 meeting in Boonville.

East Wilkes will look to bounce back from last week’s 26-8 loss to West Davidson when they welcome Surry Central to town.

The Golden Eagles trounced East 51-0 in last season’s matchup, but will have to do so without preseason all-state nominee Wes Brown, who went out with an ankle injury last week.

Forbush hosts defending 2AA state champion West Stokes in East Bend tonight looking for their first win of the season.

The Wildcats, who powered their way to a perfect 16-0 record last year, are coming off a 41-7 blowout loss to Albemarle.

All games kick off at 7:30 p.m.
