The Foothills Arts Council will showcase The Youth Art Expo winners on Friday, March 8 from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
This year, 11 schools participated; Elkin High, Starmount High, East Wilkes High, East Wilkes Middle, Starmount Middle, North Wilkes Middle, Central Middle, Dobson Elementary, Rockford Elementary, West Yadkin Elementary & Elkin Elementary.
“Over 100 entries were received,” said Leighanne Martin Wright, executive director for the Foothills Arts Council.
Wright says that Lynn Larson judged the entries and she awarded first, second and third place in their four divisions; lower elementary, upper elementary, middle and high school. Larson also awarded several honorable mentions.
Prizes will be given out at about 7 p.m. Refreshments will also be served.
“Each place winner not only gets a ribbon, but some art supply related prize,” said Wright.
