Elkin City Schools and Yadkin County Schools are among several local districts that plan to close early today.
Elkin City Schools are scheduled to close at 2 p.m., Yadkin County Schools are scheduled to close at 1:30 p.m., and Surry County Schools are scheduled to close at 1 p.mm.
Snow is anticipated to begin mixing with rain at about 3 p.m., according to Accuweather. At about 5 p.m., the temperature will drop to about 39 degrees with a real feel of 24 degrees. The snow will continue to fall until about 9 p.m.
The temperature will stay in the 20s until mid-morning tomorrow (Friday), and then won’t be any higher than 36 degrees for the rest of the day, according to Accuweather.
