Editor’s note: This is part of a series of stories of career and technical education students.

Collin Morton is a senior at Elkin High School, and has been selected by Joe McCulloch of the Career and Technical Education program there as the Outstanding Marketing and Entrepreneurship student.

McCulloch said that Collin was a pleasure to have in business class.

“He seems to have a passion for the subject matter, and brings personal examples of ideas and concepts discussed in class that he has put into practice outside the classroom,” he said.

According to Barbara Long, CTE Director for Elkin City Schools, Collin has taken Fundamentals of Technology, Foods I & II, Drafting I & II, Horticulture I, Principles of Business and Finance, Sports and Entertainment Marketing I & II, and Personal Finance.

“I enjoyed all of my classes, but for different reasons,” Morton said.

Morton plans to go to college and major in accounting following graduation. He says he has always been “interested in money,” and that he is good with numbers and accurate with calculations.

Barbara Long added that he possesses “a very strong and positive work ethic.”
