Bobby Trott will be preaching at Garden Creek Baptist Church on Sunday at 9 a.m. Everyone is invited to worship in this historic church, especially campers in Stone Mountain State Park (camping clothes are fine). Don’t forget that the Longbottom Road is still closed due to a bridge replacement.

Archie Watkins and Smoky Mountain Reunion will be in concert at Old Roaring River Baptist Church, located at 13932 Longbottom Road, Traphill, Saturday at 6 p.m. Archie Watkins and Troy Burns were members of the original Inspiration Quartet. Eddie Deitz and Marlin Shubert joined Inspiration Quartet in 1969. Doors will open at 5 p.m. A love offering will be received. For information, call 336-957-0860.

There will be a benefit fundraiser for the family of Sam Foster on Saturday at the Clingman Community Center. A yard sale will be from 7 a.m. to noon and gospel singing and auction from noon until. Food will be served. Mr. Foster passed away unexpectedly after a sudden illness and this benefit will help his family with funeral expenses.

Vacation Bible School at Roaring Gap Baptist Church in Thurmond will be June 26-July 1 from 6:30 to 9:15 p.m. with dinner being served each evening at 6 p.m. The theme this year is Submerged: Finding truth below the surface. Kickoff and registration for Submerged is Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Bring a change of clothes or towels for the kickoff as they will be having lots of water fun.

The Traphill Fire Department will sponsor the annual Fourth of July Celebration on July 2 beginning at 4 p.m. There will be food, games and music. The following will be providing music. Tim and Tanner Baker at 5 to 6 p.m., Brittany Kennedy, Roger Sidden, Franky Miller at 6 to 6:45 p.m., Trick archery Byron Tabor at 7 to 7:45 p.m. and the Backporch Bluegrass at 8 to 9:30 p.m. Fireworks will be at dusk. This is the last year the fire department will sponsor this event so be sure to come out and enjoy it.

New books available to check out at the Traphill Branch Library include “Because of Miss Bridgerton LP” by Julie Quinn, “The California Gold Rush Romance Collection: 9 Stories of Finding Treasures Worth More Than Gold” by Amanda Barratt, “Change of Heart” by Courtney Walsh, “A Doubter’s Almanac” by Ethan Canin, “Best of My Love” by Susan Mallery, and “If You Only Knew” by Kristen Higgins.

Summer Reading Program is underway at Traphill Branch Library. This year’s theme is On Your Mark, Get Set…READ! Call Brittney at the library at 336-957-3425 or check the library Facebook page to see what programs are scheduled.

Little Stone Mountain Baptist Church honored their fathers last Sunday by recognizing them and giving them a small gift. The oldest father present was Hobert Johnson and the youngest father was Daryl Taylor. Daryl and his wife, Jessica, are the proud parents of a 2-week-old son named Jeremiah. Pastor Sammy Taylor and wife, Brenda, are the proud grandparents.

Happy birthday wishes go to Betty Ball, Makayla Brooke Wiles, Donald Watson and Clyde Billings on June 20; Matt Triplette on June 22’ Morrigan Whitley, Daniel Sidden, Roger Brown and Mckensie Richardson on June 23; Troy Porter on June 25; and Jon Kennedy, Claude Nichols and Linda Anderson on June 26.

Happy anniversary wishes go to Michael and Angel Sidden, who celebrate their third anniversary on June 22; Boyce and Hilda Cleary, who celebrate their 44th anniversary on June 24; Mike and Rosetta Spicer, who celebrate their 43rd anniversary on June 24; and Angela and Scott Ratliff, who celebrate their 21st anniversary on June 24.

Traphill had a low temperature of 55.9 degrees on June 19 and a high temperature of 93 degrees on June 16. There was .7 inch of rain in Traphill during the week of June 13-19.
