There will be Bingo at the Austin Fire Department on Saturday, beginning at 6 p.m. Lots of good food will be available and some great prizes.

Little Stone Mountain Baptist Church will have its regular Fifth Sunday Singing on Sunday at 11 a.m. Solid Rock from Statesville will be the featured singers. Pastor Sammy Taylor and the congregation invite everyone to attend.

Dereck Barker will be preaching at Garden Creek Baptist on Feb. 7 at 9 a.m., weather permitting. If the Stone Mountain State Park is closed due to bad weather, there will be no service.

New books available to check out at the Traphill Branch Library include “Depraved Heart: A Scarpetta Novel” by Patricia Cornwell, “Descendants: Mal’s Spell Book” by Disney Book Group, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid #10: Ola School” by Jeff Kinney, “Finding Audrey” by Sophie Kinsella, “The Forgotten Recipe” by Amy Clipston, and “The Girl in the Spider’s Web” by David Lagercrantz.

Get well wishes go to H.C. Kennedy, who was in the hospital last week, and to Wesley Joines and Sonda Harris, who were injured in sledding accidents.

Were you as surprised as I was when the mail didn’t run last Friday and Saturday? I understand it was because it wasn’t delivered to our post offices from Greensboro.

Happy birthday wishes go to Jacob Johnston on Jan. 25; Brian McDaniel and Ashley Holcomb on Jan. 28; Chase Wood, Lucy Cothren, Neil Cothren, Patricia Sidden, Angela Holbrook, Hardin Collins, Lora Nicole Kennedy, Daylon Finger and Daniel Wagoner on Jan. 29; Dennis Norman and Judy Cleary on Jan. 30; and Mozelle Holcomb, Betty Billings, Shannon Bryant and Caleb James Casey on Jan. 31.

Traphill had a low temperature of 16.8 degrees on Jan. 20 and a high temperature of 54.3 degrees on Jan. 24. There was 6.5 inches of snow in Traphill during the week of Jan. 18-24. Are you ready for spring yet?
