Kenny Stoker will be preaching at Garden Creek Baptist Church Sunday at 9 a.m. The Mountain Flats Bluegrass Band will be singing. Everyone is invited to worship in this historic church within the boundaries of Stone Mountain State Park. Campers are encouraged to come as they are.

Welcome Home Missionary Baptist Church on the Traphill Road will have Homecoming on Sunday. Jonathan Bledsoe will be singing at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Ritchie Harris and the congregation invites everyone to attend.

The Friends of Traphill Branch Library still have a used book sale set up at the Traphill Tan & Tone on Traphill Road from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Stop by and check out some really great books.

New books available to check out at the Traphill Branch Library include “Dorothy Must Die” by Danielle Paige, “Dorothy Must Die Stories” by Danielle Paige, “Reawakened” by Colleen Houck and “Yellowstone Memories” by Jennifer Rogers Spinola.

New DVDs ready to check out include “The Spongebob Movie – Sponge out of Water,” “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” “The Ring,” “All Quiet on the Western Front,” “Girl with a Pearl Earring,” The Shining,” “Journey to the Center of the Earth,” “20 Halloween Stories,” “The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh” and “Beautiful Creatures.”

Congratulations to Shianne Bowers and Lane Bare on the birth of a son born Oct. 12 who is named Rylen Michael Bare. Proud maternal grandparents are Olen and Amanda Bowers and maternal great-grandparents are Lester and Darlene Bowers.

There was a Breast Cancer Awareness Softball Tournament in Salisbury last week that some Traphill kids played. Macie Bell played on the Surry Smack team and they won in their division. Jaden Hutchison played on the Peaches team and won in their division.

Cash Wilmouth attended a parent and son camporee in Raven Knob last week with the Cub Scout Troop #355.

Ginger Lehman attended a family wedding in Maryland and spent time with family there last week.

Joseph and Emily Roberts, his parents, Kathleen and Preston Roberts, his brother, Travis, and his son, Tanner, spent their vacation on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It was a fun trip making lots of family memories.

Dennis and I returned last week from a 10-day vacation. We traveled 3,700 miles, stopping in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to visit my stepdaughter, Kim Ashley Sanders, and her family, then on to Mustang, Oklahoma, where we picked up my sister, Mary Agnes Higgins, and her husband, Paul, before going to visit their daughter and granddaughters near Fort Worth, Texas. Then we went to San Antonio to visit The Alamo and then back up near Amarillo to see the Palo Duro Canyon.

Get well wishes go to Charlene Burchette and Kay Hawkins who are recovering from surgery.

Condolences go to the family of Bill Sidden, who died last week. He and his wife, Delrine, were always great supporters of the Traphill Branch Library.
