Derick Barker will be preaching at Garden Creek Baptist Church Sunday at 9 a.m.

Old Roaring River Baptist Church, located at 13932 Longbottom Road, Traphill, will be having revival through Wednesday. Prayer room at 6:45 p.m. and service at 7 p.m. Brother Barry Wall will bring the message each night, with special singing each night. Pastor James Pardue invites everyone to come and worship with them.

The inaugural Mountain Memories Gospel Music Festival will be held at the Traphill Fire Department on Saturday from 4 to 10 p.m.

New books available to check out at Traphill Branch Library include “Michael Vey 7: The Final Spark” by Richard Paul Evans, “Need to Know” by Fern Michaels, “To Be Where You Are” by Jan Karon, and “Treasured Grace” by Tracie Peterson.

Billings Hill Baptist Church will have revival through Friday at 7 p.m. Mark Hall, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro, will be the guest speaker. There will be special singing each night and the Calvary Baptist Youth Choir will be singing on Friday night. Pastor Brett Graham invites you to worship with them.

Little Stone Mountain Baptist Church will have revival Sunday through Wednesday at 7 p.m. Kevin Souther will be the guest speaker. Pastor Sammy Taylor invites you to attend.

Condolences go to the family of Steven Kennedy, who died on Sept. 30 at Duke University Hospital while waiting for a heart and lung transplant.

Happy birthday wishes go to Marie Smith on Oct. 3; Janice H. McGrady and Jack Pruitt on Oct. 4; Kenneth Cothren and Gary Kennedy on Oct. 6; William Kennedy on Oct. 7; and Terrie McGuire and Kaleb Dunn on Oct. 8.

Traphill had a low temperature of 46.9 degrees on Oct. 1 and a high temperature of 88.7 degrees on Sept. 27. There was only a sprinkle of rain during the week of Sept. 25-Oct. 1.
