Yale Huie will be preaching at Garden Creek Baptist Church Sunday at 9 a.m. Everyone is invited to worship in this historic church within the boundaries of Stone Mountain State Park. Campers are encouraged to come as they are.

The annual Johnson family reunion will be Sunday at Little Stone Mountain Baptist Church fellowship hall. All descendants of Capt. Samuel Johnson are invited to join in for an afternoon of fellowship and fun. Bring a covered dish and be ready to eat around 12:30 p.m.

Traphill Branch Library will have new hours of operation beginning Saturday. The library will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 6 p.m., every first and third Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. and every second and fourth Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Gid Branch Baptist Church in Thurmond will have Vacation Bible School on Aug. 8 from 1 to 5 p.m. There will be classes for all ages and snacks will be provided.

Maxine Johnson and 16 of her relatives enjoyed last week at Banner Elk. They kept each other laughing with games and activities.

Kemp Johnson is home from the hospital and doing much better.

Happy birthday wishes go to BreAnna Lambert and Willow Grace Kennedy on July 27; Lloyd Bryant, Austin Lee Holloway, Phyllis Billings Myers, Tom Johnson and Joey White on July 28; Joshua Hutchison, Rusty Shumate, Addison Foster and Rita Shepherd on July 29; Ray Kennedy and Jackie Mae Pack on July 30; Christina McGrady on July 31; and Christin Kennedy and Penny Dancy on Aug. 2.

Happy anniversary wishes go to Ruth Ann and Jonathan Mathis, who celebrate their third anniversary on July 27.

Traphill had a low temperature of 67.2 degrees on July 22 and a high temperature of 92.3 degrees on July 26. There was .5 inch of rain in Traphill during the week of July 20-26.
