NORTH WILKESBORO — Elkin, riding Josiah Blevins’ 38 and Cory Anderson’s 39, picked up a two-stroke victory over Alleghany at Oakwoods Golf Course Monday.
With temperatures in the low 70s and some rain, Harrison Hall and Logan Johnson rounded out the scoring for the Buckin’ Elks with 46s.
Starmount finished fourth, one stroke behind Wilkes Central. The Rams were led by Nick Gunnell’s 41 and Brady Hunter’s 42. Austin Holcomb carded a 44, while Carson Brown and Landon Doss each shot 50.
East Wilkes was sixth in the eight-team field. Dustin Holloway and Zach Nixon led the Cardinals with a 44 and 45, respectively. Rounding out the scoring for East Wilkes were Benjamin Prevette and Dillon Blackburn at 52.
With the conference tournament looming April 24 at Roaring Gap, the teams will get together again Thursday at New River.
With 27 holes of golf left to play, Elkin leads the conference with a stroke total of 1181. Alleghany is second at 1182. Starmount is third at 1185. Wilkes Central is next at 1196. East Wilkes is fifth at 1287.

Wilkes Central 9, East Wilkes 5: In Ronda, the Eagles rallied from a 5-2 deficit to defeat the Cardinals.
East Wilkes Coach Todd Welborn said Zach Crabb “didn’t pitch that bad. I thought he got tired.”
Glenn 3, East Wilkes 2: In Kernersville, Tracy Haynes had two hits and scored twice as the Bobcats edged the Cardinals.
Adrian Pardue went 2-for-3 for East Wilkes.
