BOONVILLE — Starmount wrestling team hosted East Surry, Bishop McGuinness and Robbinsville in a duals tournament on Tuesday but did not advance after the Cards won the opener.

The Rams gained on the Cardinals by winning the last four matches in a row, but it was not enough to turn the match around. The score ended East Surry Cards 48-29.

At 145, Ram Austin Baucom contributed a solid match with a win by pin at the midway point, to give the Rams a boost.

The Rams won the last four rounds with Dalton Oliver at 170, Ian Fennel 182, Garrett Stokes 195 and John Wooten 220.

Wooten secured points on a well-executed escape and went on to win by pin.

Head Starmount Coach David Oliver said the team fought hard and having the duals at the school was good for the school program.
