16 Elkin swimmers named all conference

The Mountain Valley 1A/2A Athletic Conference has announced its all conference honors for this season, with several Elkin swimmers and Elkin Coach Oz Prim taking top honors for both the girls and boys.


Prim has been named the MVAC Coach of the Year for both boys and girls swimming after leading Elkin to varsity conference champions for both teams.


Player of the year for boys swimming is Tyler Dishmon of North Wilkes, and for girls, it is Elizabeth McCann of North Wilkes.


Eight of the all conference slots for boys were Elkin swimmers. Named to the list are Austin Coley, Caleb Delaney, Dustin Delaney, Tyler Easton, David Morton, Jarrett Peterson, Isaac Powell and Daniel Soos.


Others making all conference are Duncan Battle, Ethan Davis, Michael Davis and Dustin Stinkson of Wilkes Central; Jeremy Billings, Tyler Dishmon, John Mark Gilligan, Aden Gossett, Henry Meyer and Noah Padgett of North Wilkes; and Dallas Handy of West Wilkes. Making honor mention are Tanner Bailey and Devan Clark of Wilkes Central.


On the girls side, eight swimmers were named all conference. They are Kirstan Beaver, Brooke Collins, Makayla Dimmette, Annie Douglas, Palmer Duncan, Afton Nelson, Peyton Nicholson and Madison Timmerman.


Girls making all conference from other schools were Laura Blevins and Sydney Clark of Wilkes Central; Hunter Church of West Wilkes; and Rebekah Daye, Lauren Handy, Sydney Hincher, Leandra Lenderman and Elizabeth McCann of North Wilkes.


Honorable mention for girls includes Makayla Cockerham, Madison McLellan, Anna McCormick, Victoria White and Erin York of Starmount; and Mary Brown and Kinley Hunsberger of Wilkes Central.
