RONDA — The Starmount Rams battled back from a half-time deficit to beat East Wilkes Tuesday night in Ronda, 66-61.


While most schools in the region canceled their scheduled games due to the frigid temperatures that threatened keeping buses running, Starmount and East Wilkes decided to go ahead with their game.


Sophomore Kyler Gregory, who plays at forward, earned a double-double in the game with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Also leading the Rams were Gunner Cass with 15 points and Jonah Shore with 11. Cass also recorded five rebounds.


Individual scores were not provided for East Wilkes’ players.


At half-time, East Wilkes was ahead 37-30, but the Rams outscored them in the second half, 36-24, for the win.


Others scoring for the Rams included Trey Bryant 7; Luke Shore 6; James Ashley 4; Josh Houser 4; Isaiah Billips 4; Dalton Vestal 3; and Blake Cheek 1.
