EAST BEND — The first two quarters made the difference in Starmount’s win over Forbush Wednesday night, which ended 62-52, in the county rivalry game.
The Falcons scored just one point less than the Rams in the third and fourth quarters, which could have meant a two-point game, but the first and second quarters Starmount outscored Forbush, 14-9 and 14-11.
The teams went into half-time with 28-20 on the board. Then in the third quarter, scoring was Starmount over the Falcons 12-11, and 22-21 in the fourth.
Starmount’s James Ashley, a junior, finished the game as the top scorer for the Rams putting up 14 points. He also had seven rebounds, three assists and two steals for the night.
Also in doubles was senior Gunner Cass with 10 points, four assists, one rebound, two steals and a block.
Others who contributed for the Rams included Kyler Gregory with nine points and four rebounds; Trey Bryant with eight points and eight rebounds; Dalton Vestal with eight points and two rebounds; Isaiah Billips, five points; Luke Shore, three points; Josh Houser, two points; and Blake Cheek, one point.
Individual results weren’t provided for Forbush players.
Starmount is now 5-5, while Forbush is 3-10.
Starmount faces West Wilkes in Boonville tonight, and Forbush is home against West Stokes.
