The town of Elkin Board of Commissioners will meet Monday at 7 p.m. at the Elkin Town Hall, 226 N. Bridge St. During the meeting, Fire Chief Tommy Wheeler is scheduled to offer a resolution to name the town’s fire station, which has not had an official name since its inception.
A resolution also will be considered that would change Wheeler’s job description.
After a public comment period, Bill Blackley will update the commissioners with the latest Elkin Valley Trails Association developments. Denise Lyon and Bob Hillyer will bring attention to a North Carolina Trails Day, and Mayor Lestine Hutchens is scheduled to issue a proclamation for September as Hunger Action Month.
Town Manager Lloyd Payne is slated to present resolutions to donate equipment to Goodwill, raw water analysis, raw water funding and delinquent sidewalk payments.
Brian Smith of Hollis Fitch is slated to talk to the commissioners about gravity sewer on PGW Drive.
There may be a possible change of date for the regularly scheduled Oct. 13 meeting due to a conflict with a scheduled North Carolina League of Municipalities meeting.
The meeting will be followed by a closed session for economic development reasons.
