Yadkin Bank announced the promotion of David Edwards to Western Regional president.
In this role, Edwards will oversee all commercial and consumer banking activity in the Bank’s Western Region, which includes the following North Carolina markets: Yadkin County, Wilkes County, Ashe County, Elkin/Jonesville, Watauga/Avery Counties, and Durham. Edwards will be based in the Bank’s Administrative Office on North Bridge Street in Elkin.
During his 20 year banking career, Edwards has held several leadership and management positions. He began his career at First Union/Wachovia in branch management, investment an securities sales, and small business lending. He spent 10 years in the Asheville, Wilkes, Surry, and Yadkin markets. He has been at Yadkin Bank for more than nine years in the Avery and Watauga markets. He began at legacy High Country Bank as a commercial banker, later being promoted to city executive and then market executive.

Edwards, a native of Ashe County, earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Appalachian State University. He is the chairman of the YMCA annual fundraising for Wilkes County, and an active Sunday school teacher and youth sports coach. He resides in Wilkesboro with his wife and two sons.
