No word was given on why a South Carolina man was in Jonesville Sunday, but he won’t be going home for a while.
Jonesville Police chared 19-year-old Christopher Thomas Flushing of Spartanburg, S.C. July 14 with simple assault and criminal damage to property.
The suspect hit an Elkin man in the face and broke the same man’s car windshield, according to an Elkin Police Department incident report.
The incident occurred on Highway 67, and police arrested Flushing at the Subway parking lot on the same road.
Flushing was listed as a stranger to the man, according to a report by Jonesville Police. He reportedly had not consumed drugs or alcohol, according to the report.
The injuries to the Elkin man were listed as minor. The windshield damage has been listed at $300.
Flushing won’t be able to tour the Old North State while he’s here visiting. He is reportedly confined in the Yadkin County Detention Center under a $1,000 secure bond, according to the police report.
His trial date is set for September 25 in Yadkinville.
