The Tribune news desk received a release by the North Carolina Department of Public Safety pertaining to an escaped prisoner.
Law enforcement officers in Asheville are seeking help in tracking down an inmate who walked off his work detail Friday morning.
According to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety release, John R. Fullwood left the area of a contract labor assignment at the North Carolina Arboretum, located at 100 Frederick Law Olmsted Way.
Fullwood, 51, was assigned to the Buncombe Correctional Center, a minimum-security prison.
He is serving six to eight years for discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle. He was due for release in September, 2016.
Public Safety officials said he is from Haywood County and may attempt to travel there.
A photo of Fullwood was released. No further leads were given.
