A white GMC pickup truck smashed into the rear entrance of Revival Pain Center on Tuesday morning.
Two were injured in the incident and taken to Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital, said police.
“We’re still looking at what went down,” said Elkin Police Capt. Kim Robison. “All we have is that two were taken to the hospital. The officer is still investigating.”
Police are not releasing further information until the conclusion of the investigation.
Revival Pain Center is located at 110 Dutchman’s Court in Elkin behind McDonalds. According to its website, the facility provides medical management as well as interventional pain management for all pain disorders.
One bystander who was at the pain center awaiting doors to open said that police were on scene within minutes.
“I’m here for treatment, and all this mess happened,” said the witness who asked not to be identified. “Now we have to wait to get our medicine.”
Authorities said calls to 911 came in at 8:30 a.m.
According to Chief Wheeler of the Elkin Fire Department, the front pillars that were damaged by the pickup truck may be cosmetic only.
“We don’t think the entranceway structure is compromised. We’re waiting for the building inspector to come out just to make sure,” said Chief Wheeler.
According to an employee for Revival Pain Center, one of the injured was a patient of the pain center.
“She was standing outside waiting for the doors to open. The driver of the pickup truck is not a patient here,” disclosed the employee.
