The Reevestock Music Festival will be held this weekend in Elkin on Friday, August 2 and Saturday, August 3.
David Mayfield, the singer-songerwriter, band leader, and Grammy nominated producer is expected to perform his 2011 solo debut “The Parade.”
According to Mayfield’s website, David Mayfield grew up playing bass and touring with his family’s bluegrass band. As a teenager he established himself as a hot picker collecting national awards for his dexterity on guitar and mandolin. His knack for colorful performances was evident as a backing player in his sister Jessica Lea Mayfield’s band including their appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman.”
“We’re excited to have David with us. Not only is he a great artist and songwriter, but he’s a fantastic entertainer,” said Sam Tayloe of the Reevestock Music Festival.
Tayloe is also a band member of the Time Sawyer Band, and Elkin-hometown musical group.
Tayloe said the Reevestock Music Festival started three years ago to help offset costs associated with restoration of the Reeves Theatre in downtown Elkin.
Friday night festivities kick-off at The Liberty building in downtown Elkin. Friday. The Dirty Guv’nahs, a rock and roll fused bluegrass band out of Knoxville, Tenn. will showcase on the evening.
Saturday, Aug. 3 festivities will be held at 357 Ivy Circle.
Also performing at the Saturday event are: Jon Linker Band, Luke Mears, Joe Pug, A Great Disaster, Time Sawyer, and Owen Poteat.
Tickets are on sale now: Friday night is $20 per ticket; Saturday all-day is $30 per ticket; Two-day tickets are $40 per ticket.
