Yadtel recently unveiled a new employee, and his nickname is the “WISE GUY” (short for wireless integrated services expert).

His real name is Shannon Adams, and he has more than a decade of experience in wireless sales with the company. It is his job to teach people how to perform the common tasks on the many wireless devices that are an ever-increasing part of their daily lives.

“Androids, iPhones, iPads, Microcells — you name it, I help with everything,” says Adams, listing the wireless devices people regularly bring to him. “I go to special events, senior centers, businesses … and of course, people can always meet me at one of our stores (located in Jonesville, Yadkinville, Mocksville, and Advance).”

He even travels outside Yadtel’s traditional service area.

“I’ve gone to businesses in Forsyth County, and I have plans to go into Statesville,” Adams said.

Barbara King, with the Yadkinville Senior Center, has witnessed the “WISE GUY” in action and hopes to see him again soon.

“He came to the center to meet with some of our folks and they found him to be very helpful,” she says. “But I didn’t get to take part, and now I want him to come back and show me how to get my voice messages!”

Adams said the idea for the “WISE GUY” was born of a desire to offer a valuable service not found elsewhere.

“We wanted something sort of like the genius bar that’s found in Apple stores,” Adams said. “Except we wanted it to be open to anyone, Yadtel customer or not, who had a question about how to set up or operate any wireless device. That’s what makes our service unique. No one else in the market is offering anything like this.”

For now, Adams is on duty three days a week, Tuesday through Thursday, and is available for appointments with a simple call to Yadtel’s customer service line (336-463-5022) or by email at wiseguy@yadtel.com.

“Oh, we definitely plan on doing more,” he says. “I’ve started making some how-to videos that we’ll air online and on Yadtel TV’s channels 6 and 7. Then hopefully this school year, we’ll get some programs going in the schools where I can go and do some demonstrations and hold open forums.”
