The Town Council of the Town of Jonesville approved a five-year contract renewal with Waste Management for collection of residential and small commercial solid waste and recycling.
The new contract calls for Waste Management to provide roll-out carts for solid waste collection to each residence and small commercial user within the Jonesville town limits.
Town Manager Scott Buffkin noted that the Town provided roll-out carts to residents and small businesses for recycling in 2011.
“The new contract with Waste Management calls for the contractor to provide roll-out carts to our residents and small business owners,” Buffkin said. “For some time the town has been looking into a way to provide roll-out carts for our residents and small businesses.”
“Through our continued association with Waste Management, Inc. we have been able to achieve this,” Buffkin added.
Waste Management will begin distributing the carts during the week of July 29.
Beginning on August 6 Waste Management will collect solid waste on Tuesdays in Jonesville. Collection will run every Tuesday.
Recycling collection in Jonesville will continue to be every other Monday.
The contractor will include instructions for the proper location and use of the carts as well as a calendar showing collection dates for the next year. Residents are encouraged to keep these materials for future reference.
