Earns Chairman’s Award for four consecutive years

The Elkin Fairfield Inn and Suites learned last week it earned the 2013 Bill Marriott Chairman’s Award, the top award distributed by the hotel brand.


This is the fourth consecutive year the hotel has earned the top award, thus setting a new record for all Fairfield Inn and Suites, according to the hotel’s general manager.


The award is given to hotels that receive the highest guest satisfaction ratings.


Random surveys are the basis for the award. The survey evaluation is open to more than 900 Fairfield Inn and Suites worldwide. According to Marriott Fairfield Inn and Suites, the survey is emailed to the customer a short time after their visit to gauge what their experience was like. One in every three visitors receives the survey and is asked to complete it. The survey is designed to understand the entire customer experience throughout their stay.


Elkin placed top in 10 categories from how clean the room was to staff service.


“This was a great honor and was made possible by excellent teamwork and empowering staff to lead,” said Michael Wilson, general manager of the Fairfield Inn and Suites. “We’re excited. Four years in a row. It shows something… We even have other hotels visiting us to learn what we do right. I owe it all to staff.”


The Fairfield opened six years ago on CC Camp Road, with Wilson working as the general manager since then. The hotel has about 40 employees who work to maintain and staff the 84-room, 16-suite location.


The Fairfield Inn and Suites is owned by Riverview Holdings Hotels, LLC and is located 628 CC Camp Road. Its owners are Ben Mastin, Bob Greene and Fred Eidson.


Riverview Holdings Hotels, LLC also owns the Hampton Inn in Marion and the Hampton Inn and Comfort Inn in Jonesville, all which have been recently remodeled. Wilson also serves as regional manager over the hotels.


Riverview Holdings Hotels, LLC made headlines recently when it was learned the company purchased franchise rights to build a new Choice hotel in the region. According to Mastin, the company will build a Comfort Suites.


Wilson said the company is working with officials in Elkin and Jonesville in determining the new hotel location.
