HAMPTONVILLE — The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a breaking and entering and larceny of a motor vehicle at a residence located on Petty Road in Hamptonville. The sheriff’s office has made an arrest and is seeking a second suspect.
The incident was reported to authorities on Jan. 15.
According to a release from the sheriff’s office, the victim advised that he discovered his storage building had been broken into and several items were missing.
The victim also reported the auto theft of his GMC SUV.
Earlier on the same day, the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to an abandoned vehicle located on Memorial Drive in Yadkinville. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the abandoned vehicle was the one reported stolen by the victim on Petty Road.
During the investigation by detectives with the Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office, the sheriff’s office reported it was determined that Charles Anthony Ballard, 42, and Jason Kirby Southard, 51, both of Yadkinville, were responsible for the breaking and entering and larceny. Detectives reportedly located some of the stolen items at a residence in Yadkinville in which Ballard was residing.
Ballard was charged with one count of felony breaking and entering, one count of felony larceny after breaking and entering, one count of felony larceny of a motor vehicle and two counts of injury to personal property. Ballard is being held at the Yadkin County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.
