As 2013 comes to an end, The Tribune is rolling out the new 2014 calendars.
Every year The Tribune brings together photographs of notable landmarks around the area, with each month featuring a photo.
In 2013, the calendar featured photos of the former Hugh Chatham Memorial Bridge, Stone Mountain, Royall’s Soda Shoppe, and classic automobile plates from Elkin.
Local photographer Keith Hall took the shots.
This year new Content Manager Wendy Byerly Wood traveled the area photographing scenes at Tharpe’s Mill in Ronda, Elkin Creek, Richmond Hill near East Bend, and the home of Elkin founder Richard Gwyn.
Keeping with tradition, the cover photo comes courtesy of local historian Jason Couch.
This year’s artwork is a shot of Richard Gwyn’s grist mill that stood on the Big Elkin Creek. In 2013, the cover photo was a bird’s eye view of historic downtown Elkin.
Couch has collected many historic photos of the town and area in his popular book “Images of America: Elkin.”
Calendars are available at The Tribune’s front desk free of charge. The Tribune’s office is located at 214 E. Main St. in Elkin.
