JROTC competing in academic bowl


The Army JROTC Cadet Command at Fort Knox, Kentucky, sponsored an Academic Bowl for all 1,500 JROTC high school programs in the country. On Dec. 6, Elkin High School was notified its JROTC Academic Team had advanced to Level II of the competition which will be held in February.

The academic Bowl competes online against all other JROTC programs answering timed questions based on academic subjects including ACT and SAT type questions. The top 26 teams that successfully place from the Level II competitions will win a trip to Washington, D.C., for the championship round.

Cadets who will represent the Elkin JROTC program include, team captain L. Lloyd, M. Fuentes, K. Romero and K. Thomas.
